Welcome to the Website of the Lagunita Writers' Group

The Lagunita Writers' Group met for years one evening a week in a private home in Laguna Beach, California. With the death of our long-time hostess, Martha Anderson, (see photo below) we have moved to a home in Dana Point, but still meet weekly to share our latest creations, critique the work, give encouragement and suggestions, and enjoy each other's company. Together, we celebrate the successes of our members.

The current group averages eight to ten writers per session, although others may come on occasion.

The group is available to speak in the Southern California area on several topics. Individual members are also available. Contact us at for more information.

In memory of Martha Anderson who hosted our writing group for many years. Luanna, Christie, and Lorna wrote her into their Aspen Grove anthology series by name. In the books, as in real life, she was the 'cookie lady.' Every week, without fail, she baked us wonderful cookies to share after our critique sessions. Even as macular degeneration took her sight, she instructed her caregivers on how to prepare our treats. She died peacefully in her home on December 2, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. We are grateful for this bright, generous, funny (she always had a new joke) woman who encouraged our group to produce the very best stories possible.

The summer of 2014 marked the loss of two of the group's authors, Donald Cotner and Rebecca (RE Geneck) Delo. Both were published authors, and both will be greatly missed.
